Imagine ...

As you can see in the next post, the tree in our front yard is not in the best condition (and somewhat dangerous.) It was a Christmas tree they planted many years ago. We have decided to take it out and replace it with a Royal Empress Tree. The Royal Empress can stand up to our weather conditions (windy, foggy, cool, drought tolerant) and it's beautiful pink flowers are edible!! (We're trying to go with a permaculture design in the garden/yard so edible fits the bill.) Plus, it will make me feel better to have a deciduous species around (even if I have to clean up the leaves!!) It makes me feel more in touch with the "seasons" - strange as they may be on the central coast. (The tree is fast growing as well!! I think I might go crazy if I had to watch a slow growing tree outside my front window everyday. Sad, but true.)
