Outside Pictures

Here are more pictures of the outside of the house. Demolition starts on Monday so I wanted to get as many pre-demo pictures as possible. I think we're going to go ahead and add a coat of white primer to the front as well, just to brighten things up.

The porch is being demolished (bye bye ugly ramp!!) We have big plans for a craftsman style covered porch with a porch swing but for now we're just going to build steps leading up to the door and probably paint them white.

The garage is a mess on the outside. Most of the siding is being replaced and we're installing a new garage door and frame. The back door is being replaced as well and the frame moved over to make room for the washer and dryer. (Actually, we're moving the front door to the back door in order to save money and have a nice new front door at the same time.) The garage is going to be used for storage and workspace. I will miss parking in a garage, but you can't have it all so no worries ...

The back of the house is south facing and gets the most light, as you can tell by the flaky paint. It also has the most termite damage so we're replacing a lot of the trim and siding on the back. The disturbing shed in the back is going bye bye (John's actually demolishing it right now.) We're removing the brick patio in the back as well, and replacing it with a paver patio and possibly a pergola in the future. Other future plans include a big ol' garden, a green house, a new garden tool shed, and a hot tub. Gotta have the hot tub after cold swims in the ocean!! Two of the reasons why we were anxious to own a house were to get a hot tub, and to get Lake a dog. Neither of these work well when you are renting and have to move a lot. I can't wait for Lake to realize she's going to have her own dog one day. She is going to be so stoked!! (You should see how well she takes care of her stuffed dog. She even took its temperature the other day =)
