Around the House

I realized all of our pictures are either of the interior or exterior of the house so I decided to take a few of the neighborhood and views.

A few people have asked how far we are from the ocean. We're about a mile, or 10 blocks. It's within walking distance but an easier bike ride. The bay is closer. We have some peekaboo views of the ocean (we'll have more once we trim some overgrown bushes in the front yard.) The first picture shows the ocean view from the front yard. In the summer the sun sets in that direction so we should have some pretty color displays on late summer evenings =) The next picture shows the view from the roof. I don't think we'll be building any second stories any time soon though (if ever.) The third picture shows the view of Morro Bay (our town) from the hill at the end of our street. Black Hill is one of our State Parks (managed by John =) It's a great little hike with amazing 360 views. We're super stoked it's so close!!

The first two houses are across the street from us. The little quaint house is an example of the older houses in the area. Morro Bay was a small little fishing village for most of its existence. These little houses were left from the days when the fishermen ruled and only needed a small space to rest their heads, or for the occasional vacationers from the valley who often rented these small spaces (most were single rooms built in the early century.)

Anyone who has lived here for a while appreciates the small old houses and loves to put some life back into them. The second picture is the other not so appreciated version of houses in the area. Basically, it's good bye small with a yard, hello McMansion with a view. Luckily, there aren't too many of these on our street but this one is right across from us. Oh well. At least it's not ghetto like ours has been forever.

The last pictures are more cute little house on our block. I love these little houses. I can't wait to make ours as sweet!!
