LET THE RENOVATION BEGIN!!

It's that time!! I can't wait to see the transformation. I only wish I could do more of the work. John will be working with our contractor the entire time, but I'll only be able to pop in and out here and there (because of Lake.) I'm sort of the forman though, so I guess I'll have to settle with this and less physical labor. (I've always enjoyed getting dirty a little more than bossing people around =) But I do get to paint!!!

We're starting with the fumigation tomorrow. We're going with the traditional tent and gas because we learned the heat treatment doesn't work as well. As most of you know, I'm not a fan of pesticides. But the termites have been eating away at this house for the last 30 years (besides the redwood frame and foundation, thankfully.) And drastic times call for drastic measures. But I do feel sorry for the little beings ... can't help it. They're just doing their job, you know? So I would like to take a moment of silence for the little creatures who have lived in our home for a good while now. May you pass quickly and pain free, and may you rest in peace ...
