Yes, we have light. The electrician started installing them yesterday so I actually had my first painting experience with real lights and not a head lamp and flashlight. It's a whole new and bright world at the Balboa house!! I think they are installing the rest of them today. Plus, we decided to go with two beach cottage white ceiling fans in the living/dining area because we were informed that you need a control on the light to actually turn the one by the fireplace on and off. And I truly wanted ceiling fans in the first place so we went with two in that room to balance things out.
I don't really have pictures of lights yet (they really aren't that special, mostly cheap home depot lights until we have more cash to upgrade.) But below are the bathrooms with their finished color (at least for now.) The first one is the master bath. I went with the color "Bali" by Ben Moore because the "etched glass" color didn't match the bedroom decor and I realized that the bathroom is actually an integral part of the bedroom and not its own little space like I was previously thinking (the door will be open most of the time). So of course they have to coordinate. Duh.
The second picture is the guest bath with ... drum roll ... ETCHED GLASS!! Yes, I re-painted it in the lighter color. I couldn't cope with the darker shade. The "etched glass" is still pretty dark, in my opinion, so it's still an experiment for me. I have realized that it's difficult to do dark colors in small spaces and for this reason I decided to take the safer route with the kitchen and painted it in "Navajo White" (pictures soon.) I love creme and white together and they look nice with the wood counter and wood floors (and some apple green accents to come shortly.) AND it still looks BEACHY!!
So Lake's room is the only one left to paint with color (a lighter shade of Bali) and the rest of the house is getting a coat of "Shadow White" (and everything is getting "Simply White" trim.)
My arms and chest are sore, but I can feel an end in site ...
NEXT: John is grouting the bath and shower today so more pics soon. He is also finishing the floors this weekend. WOOT!! Mark is installing the bathroom fixtures and starting on the floor trim soon. And we still have a few things to do in the kitchen. After this we'll start moving stuff in and the guys will start on the outside work (siding and trim repair, new garage doors, new front porch, and PAINT!!)
Much more oceanside! I think it was worth the work to fix it...of course, that's always easy to say from this side of the computer screen :-)
